City Utility ServicES
Meters for residents and businesses are read at the end of the month. Utility billings are then calculated and mailed and due by the 15th of the following month (or as indicated on the billing) to avoid a penalty charge. Utilities included on the billing are water, sewer, garbage, Minnesota Test Fee, and any tax. Additional Billing is a $2.00 per billing charge. Utility bills can be mailed to City Hall at PO Box 70 - Dundas, MN 55019-0070 or can be deposited in the afterhours depository located on the front of the building. Please notify City Hall two to three business days in advance of your moving into or out of a home/business by calling 645-2852 so arrangements can be made regarding the final utility bill.
For people who do an excessive amount of lawn watering or have an automatic sprinkler system, a separate outside radio read meter may be purchased from City Hall at an additional cost plus the cost of installation. Arrangements can be made through the City for a plumber to install the meter.

During the summer months from June 1 thru September 15 there is a Lawn Watering Restriction
(Ordinance 2010-02). The Water Schedule for residents and businesses restricts water based on
last digist of the street address:
Even Number Addresses are on Even Days
Odd Number Addresses are on Odd Day
Exceptions: Large, newly seeded/sod area
New trees and schrubs.
Homeowner Associationss follow the odd-even sprinkling ban or set to control 50 percent.
PENALTY: $75.00 First Offense and up to $200 thereafter.

Water/Sewer Rates for 2017
Water/Sewer Residential /Commercial/Industrial Users
Water Base Charge: $21.83 Minimum monthly (includes first 1,000 gal use)
Water Use Rate: $ 3.83 per 1,000 gallons metered over 1,000 gallons
Sewer Base Charge: $25.59 Minimum monthly
Sewer Use Rate: $ 8.34 per 1,000 gallons water metered over 1,000 gallons
Outside Water Rate: $5.83 per 1,000 gallons water metered through an outside meter

Refuse and recycling
Dundas is on a volume based refuse system. Refuse is collected weekly on Thursday and should be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. and removed in the evening. The Single Sort Recycling cart (pdf) is collected every other week beginning January 5, 2017. Should a holiday fall prior to Thursday, garbage is picked up on Friday.
2017 Garbage carts sizes available and costs are:
35 Gallon Cart $13.58 monthly plus garbage tax $1.32 = $14.90
64 Gallon Cart $15.10 monthly plus garbage tax $1.47 = $16.57
96 Gallon Cart $18.35 monthly plus garbage tax $1.79 = $20.14

NOTE: EXCESS REFUSErequires an additional designated Waste Management garbage bag, which can be purchased at City Hall for $3.00 each. If the excess refuse at the curb (not on the street) for collection is not in the proper garbage bag, it will be left behind or additional charge will be added on owner’s bill.

Please no oil containers.            
Plastic bags are not recycled.

2017 Residential Holiday Schedule
Waste Management staff works all holidays except Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. If the holiday falls on or before your pick up day, your service will be delayed by one day.

New Year's - Sunday, January 1
No Change in service.

Memorial Day – Wednesday, May 31
Service delayed one day.

Independence Day – Tuesday, July 4
Service delayed one day.
Labor Day – Monday, September 4
Service delayed by one day.
Thanksgiving Day –Thursday, November 23
Service delayed one day.
Christmas Day – Monday, December 25
Service delayed by one day.


Helpful Tips and Reminders:
-- Maintain clear and safe access to your container.
-- Make sure your container is in open or well-lit area.
-- Clear your driveway of snow and ice.
-- Keepyour pets safely inside or contained on your service day.
-- Place only materials that are for disposal near your container on your service day.
-- To avoid spills, continaer lids should be closed.
-- To keep your container cleaner and reduce odor and insects, please place your trash first
in bags and then into your containers.

Avoiding Delay of Service:
-- Ensure no vehicles are parked in front or to the left of the containers
-- Keep your container clear of snow and ice.
-- Please place your container out by 6:30 a.m.
-- Pick up times can vary due to volumn and seasonability.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPT FOR DISPOSAL
Bulky Appliance - washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water heaters,
dehumidifiers, stoves, furnaces, microwave overns and trash compactors.
Cathode-Ray Tubes (CRT's) - Items such as computer monitors and televisions.
Waste Management has a drop off site for electronics for a fee at 1510 S Hwy 3 in Northfield.
Items accepted are: Computers - Fax Machines - Monitors - Printers - Copiers - VCR - TV
You may contact Waste Management Customer Service for fees and to schedule a CRT or Appliance Pickup
by calling 645-0915.

YARD WASTE PROGRAM
Waste Management will pick up yard waste in biodegradeable paper or "Waste Management" yard bags ONLY. Stickers for the yard bags are available at City Hall for $2.00 each. Picking up the bags for spring will be on Thursdays from April 6th to May 11th and again in the fall on Thursday from October 5th to November 9th. Waste Management will not collect bags that do not have a "Waste Management" sticker on the bags. Yard waste may also be transported to the Rice County Landfill and Recycling Center located on Hwy 3 and County Rd 75 between Dundas and Faribault. Call 507-332-6833 for hours and directions.

CHRISTMAS TREE
Recycle your natural Christmas tree FREE by placing on the curb by 7:00 a.m. on you regular garbage collection day the 1st and 2nd Thursday in January. Remove tree stand, wire, lights, ornaments, fasteners, garland, and tinsel before placing the tree at the curb. No trees in plastic bags. You will need to call and schedule any trees to be picked up after the 2nd Thursday in January, as there will be a cost of $5.00.

To dispose of such Household Hazardous Waste, contact Rice County Recycling/Landfill at 507-332-6833.
Located at 3800 145th Street East in Dundas. Hours of operation are:   
Monday thru Friday  7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Saturday  7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (November – March: 2nd Saturday) & (April - October: 2nd and 4th Saturday)
An attendant is available on site for assistance. This service is provided free of charge for City and County residents.

Leaves, grass clippings, garden residue are accepted in the compost area. Twigs, branches and brush are accepted in designated brush piles. Plastic bags or other containers cannot be left at the site. Wood chips are available for landscaping.

DUNDAS also offers an annual “Clean Up Days” in May where you may bring your large items (no garbage or paint) to a site for disposal. Charges may occur.
